Species Recovery Efforts

Native Butterflies

In addition to captive rearing of Oregon Silverspot Butterflies, the Oregon Zoo is also involved in conservation efforts for four other Pacific Northwest endangered butterfly species.

The Oregon Zoo is rearing Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterflies (Euphydryas editha taylori), which are mostly absent from their historic habitat.
